Discover the soul of Anatolia, one bottle at a time.

In a world of thousands of wine labels, it's easy to overlook the quiet revolutions — the small, deeply personal projects that are changing how we understand wine.
At DIAKOPA, we believe in championing those stories — producers who craft wines with integrity, passion, and a sense of place.

That’s why we’re proud to introduce Heraki Wines to our collection — a new generation of Turkish wine that’s rooted in heritage and made for today.

A Story That Spans Continents

Heraki Wines is the vision of Fulya Akinci, a Turkish winemaker, and José Hernandez, a Spanish oenologist. The couple met in Bordeaux while studying winemaking, but their journey took them across the globe — harvesting in both hemispheres, learning from the world’s most respected vineyards.

Eventually, they returned to Türkiye — a country rich in wine history, but still underexplored by global wine lovers. In 2019, they founded Heraki in Alaşehir, near the ancient city of Philadelphia, a region with fertile soils and a deep connection to the vine.

But Heraki isn’t just a winery. It’s a philosophy.

What Makes Heraki Different?

Heraki focuses on low-intervention winemaking, old vines, and native grape varieties. It’s not about trends — it’s about honoring the land and the people who care for it. Every wine comes from a carefully selected vineyard plot, many farmed by small growers whose families have tended the land for generations.

Key practices:

  • Old Vines: Dry-farmed, 35 to 80 years old — deep roots, deep flavor

  • Native Grapes of Türkiye: Boğazkere, Karasakız, Çal Karası, and Sultaniye

  • Minimal Intervention: No additives, wild fermentation, and small-lot vinification

  • Thoughtful Aging: Wines are matured in a mix of ovoid tanks, used French barrels, and oak casks — chosen not to mask, but to elevate

This is the future of Turkish wine: pure, expressive, and radically transparent.

Why Turkish Wine Is Having a Moment

Türkiye is one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world, with over 1,200 indigenous grape varieties — more than France or Italy.
Yet for decades, Turkish wine remained under the radar internationally. Now, that’s changing.

Modern winemakers are returning to native grapes, sustainable farming, and authentic techniques. From the volcanic soils of Cappadocia to the limestone hills of Denizli, the wines of Türkiye are now attracting global attention for their character, drinkability, and sense of place.

Heraki Wines is part of this renaissance.

By working with grapes like Boğazkere (structured, spicy), Sultaniye (zesty, aromatic), and the delicate Çal Karası, Heraki is reconnecting Türkiye with its ancient winemaking soul — and bringing it to the world in a fresh, modern way.

Wines to Explore

Heraki produces six mono-varietal wines, each designed to tell the story of a grape and the place it came from. Two ranges define their portfolio:

🟣 AKUARELA SERIES

Named after the Spanish word for “watercolor,” these unoaked wines are vivid, expressive, and honest.

  • Sultaniye (White) – Bright, fresh, citrusy

  • Çal Karası (Red) – Delicate red fruits, light and elegant

  • Karasakız (Red) – Floral, medium-bodied, with soft spice

  • Boğazkere (Red) – Bold, earthy, with firm tannins

🔵 PREMIUM LABELS

  • DELTA V (White) – Barrel-aged Sultaniye with lees contact, creamy and complex

  • NOVAKULA (Red) – Boğazkere aged in new and used French oak — deep, structured, and age-worthy

These are wines made for the curious — natural enough for purists, yet refined enough for traditional palates. Perfect with Mediterranean cuisine, grilled meats, or a quiet evening with a glass of something real.

Why We Chose Heraki for DIAKOPA

At DIAKOPA, our goal is to celebrate wines from regions that once formed the cultural heart of the Roman Empire — places where vines have been cultivated for millennia.
Heraki Wines fits this mission perfectly.

  • They champion native Turkish grapes.

  • They work in harmony with the land and local communities.

  • Their wines are honest, elegant, and memorable.

Most of all, they bring a human story to every bottle — one of exploration, respect, and return.
